Why does every teen or kid write the same. Everyone has the same style and it's making me tired of reading it. I honestly think you can write but try writing something out of the box. I got lost a lot in it, you seem really nice im not trying to bust your feelings or anything but iv read hundred of storys just lie this. I am so much in love with a white man and I am black. My family is completely accepting. His mother doesn't condone our relationship. I know I should support him. But forgive me for saying, meeting a racist woman wasn't part of my plan. I never wanted to be put in a position that someone judges me before they get to know me. Did I waste my time and money?

Three years ago, I had a goal to study social science in college and attend university after that. Unfortunately it took me more than two years like I thought and I realized university wasn't what I wanted and I wasn't cut out for it. So now I changed my field of studies and next semester I'm going to be in the adult and youth correctional intervention program (similar to the one I liked before => criminology). It will take three more years of college before I can get my college diploma. I feel like I wasted my time in something I didn't like plus not obtaining my diploma for social science because I failed the last class I needed. So when I will be working in a few years do you think my experience in the social science program will be relevant/useful (around 33 courses, most psychology oriented but no diploma as I said because I didn't pass the last one) if I want to be a correctional officer or something similar to a social worker or did I just waste my time? Women are generally physically weaker than guys, so possibly less able to defend themselves from a physical attack. Women are more likely to be sexually harassed and sexually assaulted, I would think. Male prisoners do not get to see women very often, which I guess makes any women entering their midst very interesting to them and a target for their attention.

How hard would basic training be for me?

I leave for Army BCT in Ft. Benning Georgia in 18 days. I can laready max out on the situps and i am really close to maxing out on the pushups, my run time isnt so good though, I run 2 miles in 17 minutes, and I'm still working on getting it lower by running like everyday. I'm 20 years old I weigh 162. I spent a year and 3 months in a correctional program for "At Risk" youth in NM. We had morning running everyday at 7:00am where we ran at least a mile or we did sprints. All of the staff there were like Drill Sergeants, constantly yelling at you for everything, we could never do anything right in their eyes. We also had inspection where we had to have the whole house spotless before 9:00am. We also had to do 15 mile hikes through the mountians with a 40-50lb backpack carrying our tents, food, clothes, water,sleeping bags, and anything thing else you wanted to bring. So I'm pretty much used to alot of things that we might be doing in BCT. Just wanted to know how people will think I might hold up over there. I'm just getting pretty nervous about it and having second thoughts about joining...too late now I guess

First of all I don’t condone hateful remarks against any groups, Gays, Christians, Muslims, whatever the case. I read a story about Tracy Morgan’s remarks and got to thinking. When this guy has a tirade and says or does bad stuff, advocacy groups and other celebrities are calling for him to apologize. Even some groups were demanding for him to be fired by NBC. He did apologize and so did NBC and even Tina Fey. Then you have Lady Gaga who really hasn't’t said any hateful remarks against religion, but has done some disrespectful things in her videos, like eat a Catholic rosary or release her Judas video during Holy Week. Her videos seem to be her voice. Christian groups have asked for her apology among other things of course this his not happened. This is crazy because she preaches tolerance and is against hate. So in Morgan’s case it hurts his career but in Gagas case it means millions of albums sold. What’s your take? Is there a double standard? Why cant we all live in peace. Gaga doesn't need to be controversial to sell albums, she has lots of talent, just as Morgan doesn't need to make humor of gays to create laughs.

You are describing PTSD. i suggest you file a workman's comp claim immediately. I am sorry that this bothers you. I have dealt with hundreds and hundreds of dead folks in my career (almost 40 years), including children who were Murdered and mutilated. I am surprised that the death of an inmate would have that serious of an effect on you. However, it is your psychology, and not mine, so I can't deny that you have a legitimate problem. Seek help ASAP, and the seriously consider another line of work. It only gets worse, not easier.

Question about the NCDOC?

So I just applied for the NCDOC as a correctional officer. I happen to get this letter in the mail stating that I would have to take a TABE test and a COVT test. Now the COVT wouldn't be a problem for me but I'm concerned with the TABE test. I hate math with a passion but my reason for asking a question is this, I haven't had any luck with an asvab test for the military at all simply because of all the math and stuff, reading isn't a problem. Can you fail a TABE test for the ncdoc? I mean does that determine if u get hired or not? I would greatly appreciate if there would be no smart answers. Just respect me for coming to you guys and asking. do they look at that TABE to determine if ur hireable or not? Thanks for your help guys

My parents got a phone call from the high school that my brother is doing bad in a class; actually they weren't being very clear but they were really mad. He goes to this magnet school and is set to go to Rutgers but I'm getting freaked out he might not even graduate. From what he tells me, he says he is doing fine in class but not good in two classes which might just be ok but I'm still worried Rutgers might retract his admission. He's such a procastinator (I was and am too; just graduated college) but I actually got my **** done. Question about speaking to an Army recruiter?

I've been doing lots of research about joining the army recently. I'm 25 and basically fed up with my career as a correctional officer, looking for possible change. Very few jobs in the army interest me at this point in my life with the exception of military intelligence. Now based on what I've read in articles and online it seems if anything the army is downsizing, or at least is swamped with recruits. I have yet to speak with a recruiter. When I do is it wrong to basically tell him I'm only interested in a select few jobs, mainly 35M (Human Intelligence Collector) and that if I cannot have that job I'm basically not interested? From my perspective I'm giving up a good salary and my future pension (I've got 5 years in) to join the army, therefore I'm not willing to "settle" on what they have available. I would rather wait or simply not join. This may seem rude or inappropriate, but I'm just being very upfront, as I expect them to be with me since I view recruiters as looking out for the best interests of the military while I'm looking out for mine and my wife's best interests. Should I even bother going in to talk to him at this point?

I Am So Disgusted With Certain Family Members Right Now?

My mother has always been controlling and co-dependent on her children. Don't get me wrong, she was also very loving and nurturing but...controlling. She has always been both emotionally and financially co-dependent on her children, now aged 34 & 36. I finally had enough and moved out at the age of 29yrs and have lived independently since. My sibling lives with her but strongly desires to move out into his own place. He won't do this out of fear of what will happen to my mother. He refuses to admit this to her but has told me this is the reason he hesitates to leave. My mother has been on unemployment for maybe 1 1/2 - 2 yrs. She is trying to collect SSI and disability. As you probably know...this is a time consuming process but she wasn't exactly in a hurry. She now only has about 1.5 month left to collect unemployment. Recently, my sibling voiced his desire to have his own place. My mother agreed and when he asked what she planned to do....she told him she would move in with a complete stranger and rent a room. CRAZINESS! I told her I refuse to condone this and told her she will put her belongings in storage and move-in with me. I explained to her my brother MUST eventually move out into his own place and learn to live independently. She too will eventually move out into a one bedroom and learn to live independently. I have become extrememly angry over this issue. Not to mention, just yesterday I learned my brother may have an older child he never knew about until recently. Mind you....he collects social security and disability. Financially he cannot afford a child. He is in no position in life to father a child....period. I am angry because my mother is co-dependent on us. I am angry because her co-dependency as forced her children to sacrifice having their own lives to contribute to her life. I am angry because I have worked hard all of my adult life and worked hard through college not to rely on the system to support me. Also, it may not be a bad thing that this relationship ended, because a controlling, hateful mother-in-law can make for a lot of relationship misery. You need to decide, by yourself, if the relationship is worth putting up with his mother. Then, you need to let him know what you decide, and if you still want to be with him, let him decide what he wants to do and deal with his mother.

I am wondering if the background check for an RPAL would be the same background check you would get while applying to a police force? The reason I ask is because I am signed up to go to college to help me become a Correctional Officer, but I just found out the OPP have taken over the background investigation for corrections Canada. Now this is something I would really like to do, but a few things are holding me back from committing 3 years of my life to pursuing this goal. Let me first state that I have never been arrested, never charged, never even had a disagreement with a police officer or anything like that. But I have had quite a few encounters with the police. I will explain each one. One time I got caught with a pipe on me when i was probley 16 (I smoked marijuana as a teen), another time I was with a "friend" (not my friend) at the lake, and police officers came over to the car, and saw weed in the my car (not my weed and the guy told the police it wasnt mine) but the guy was on probation for who knows what, so we both got a cautioned. And the the big one, 6 or 7 months ago me and my girlfriend broke up, and we had no contact with each other at first. But then I was suppose to be moving away so I emailed her and asked if I could maybe say goodbye, and apologize to her for how things ended. She didnt answer me so I sent her a few more emails and then a police officer shows up at my door and tells me I need to stop trying to contact her. I explained to the officer that I was not threatening in any way or even upset. I just wanted to say goodbye. I asked the officer if this would effect me getting into the army and he said no, because I wasnt being charged. But then he went on to say that he did have to write a report. I said I understand, thanked the officer for letting me explain myself, and he was on his way. Now the big question is, will all of that disqualify me from becoming a CO? I need to know soon because I have a career opportunity in Saskatchewan that is waiting for me, but I would much rather take the path of corrections. Sorry about the story, but I dont want to go through with all this just to be told no in the end. I am truely a good person with a big heart, and I just want to serve the public some way or another. I'm curious. We've heard all the deal about William Roberts - I refuse to call him Rick Ross...he isn't Rick Ross. But his crew, Triple C's? I've been watching their videos and listening to all the music and even though I think it's good, I question all their claims. I mean, Snoop Dogg and The Game claimed their affiliations and you know that more or less they aren't fraudulent for a number of logical reasons that I can't be bothered to explain. Anti-Religious Folk: Why hate God due to those who claim to do things in His name?

I notice a lot more animosity against people who believe in God (particularly against Christians). And God had always taught the right way to go and punished evil. Now, the main problem most people have is if God is so great, why is His people so rotten? Hasn't the question ever arisen in one's mind that possibly this is not a Christian? What does the bible say about this? To be a Christian means to follow after Christ and read His Word. His Word don't condone the bombings of abortion clinics or murders. It don't tell us to take the law in our own hands but to abide by the law. Now I understand people do crazy things saying God told them too... but perhaps it wasn't God who told them at all. Perhaps that's their ambition masquerading behind the mask of Christianity. Maybe it was Satan? Perhaps they are insane? I don't know, but there are other alternatives other than blaming Christ. I take the time to understand other beliefs in order to better understand them and they feel more at ease, knowing I am not trying to bash or berate them for their beliefs. Putting all of us in the same catergory is wrong.

I am a college student and work for DC Public Schools as a Teacher Assistant. I can't believe how poorly TAs are treated throughout the school district. Can I break my lease if my landlord give my personal information to strangers?

I am on Section 8 or HUD. I have not lived in the house I'm renting fo a whole month yet. I have not spoken to my neighbors besides and occasional hi here and there. Now I am having problems with my neighbors, who's names I don't even know, and it's because my landlord has been so kind as to give my personal information to these strangers. I don't want everyone in the neighborhood to know that I am on Section 8 and basically know my business. I am a very private person. When I first got started with Section 8, I knew their was a privacy thing that if I don't want someone to know they don't need to know. I told my landlord of course and that is it. So if anyone in the neighborhood know it's because my landlords have opened their mouths and told them. It's to the point that the landlord denied it and after insisting they gave my information to these stranger they finally admitted to have said something to someone. Right, I knew it all along. Now my issue is not only people knowing I'm on Section 8 but these people have fuel to start their fires. I have two small kids and due with my third next month. I am in no position to get into confrontations with anybody. So because my landlord have volunteered my personal info to these people who already weren't happy to have me in the neighborhood I am now having to deal with problems at my home. I had a woman screaming and cursing at me from across the street because my landlord has giving her the information she needed to get mad with me. I don't know this lady and to have her cursing at me and screaming while my kids are inside my home is completely uncalled for. I would have never had any problems with any neighbor if it wasn't for my landlord. He has made it so that I am uncomfortable in my own home. I already felt like an outsider because the area is all whites and I am of color but now I feel like all eyes are on me every time I leave my front door. I need serious answers only. I need to try to get out of this lease and away from all of this negativity. Can't stay asleep, work the graveyard shift.?

I work the graveyard shift as a correctional officer. I average a 13 hour day with 1 1/2 hours drive each way. By the time I get home it is after 7am. I go straight to bed but wake up at 11:30 every day. I need to wake up at 2:30pm and when I wake up I stay awake for about 30 min to an hour. I keep waking up about every 30 min until 2:30 pm. I don't want to take any medication for fear of not waking up on time. On my first day off I still only sleep until 11:30 am and find myself falling asleep during the day if I sit down and do something quiet (like read or watch a movie) I don't fall asleep while driving or anything remotely active. I also cannot be groggy or take a nap at work. Any tips or advice would be helpful.

He definitely likes you. The thing that most girls really don't get is that it means something totally different to men. I am just being honest with you. i did it at work, went through pant leg and i know instantly i did something. i look at it and its a hole a little bigger than the eraser of a pencil. i put a band aid on it and at the end of the day it hardly bled at all, and it hasn't scabbed over. is that normal or should i be worried? What should I get for school? (haven't been in a while)?

I'm going back to college after 7 years out of high school next fall and I have no idea what type of materials I'll need. I have a backpack that I mostly just use for travel, and I have pens. When I usually touch something my mind says wash your hands and I do. When I see something is not straight I make it straight. Major in Law or Medicine. Lawyers and Doctors get paid TREMENDOUS salaries and they can travel wherever they want to go. Corporate executives (Master in Business Administration) travel a lot too but they have "desk jobs" and I know that you don't want that. I would recommend that you get a degree in English or a Social Science if you want to go to Law School or a degree in Biology or Chemistry if you want to go to Medical School. Whatever you choose to do I'm sure you will succeed and I think you should just calm down, relax, and figure out what you really want to spend the rest of your life doing. Good luck!

i have a boyfriend who is the same, he doesn't open up and bottles it open till he snaps and cries for no apprant reason. i also have alot of experience with loss which he seams to be suffering with. 4 people i was close to died within a space of 2 years, one in particular was like a father to me and i had to witness him die, as he had a heart attack when i was young and i saw it. it left me very scarred and even today i burst out crying about it randomly. grief is a strange thing but its something that has to be dealt with personally, it cannot be helped, only comforted by a loved one being there and gets better with time. it seams he has told you an awful lot about it which says a lot about your relationship to share such a troubling past. therapy can be a waste of money if the person actually doesn't want to talk, trust me, my boyfriend left after a few weeks because he couldn't do it. it is better to talk to someone like a family member, or maybe an online counselling site as thats free and anonymous and it can be easier not knowing the person as their problems won't emotionally effect them. as for you, i think you need to comfort each other, because being there to listen sometimes is enough.

My friend went to Chautauqua County Jail on April 21, 2011. He was there for a two weeks, then transferred to Wende Correctional Facility for two nights and now he's in Elmira. I looked up information and it says that an inmate in reception cannot have visits for two weeks or get packages and cannot make phone calls. Parole violation in PA please help need advice asap?

Hi so my boyfriend went to visit me in NJ this past weekend. He broke his hand and went to an ER in NJ. He is on parole for receiving stolen property. Someone stole a laptop and I think he said it was his and took the blame for it. At the ER in NJ, they gave him a 5mg percocet. This was Saturday night and Monday morning he had an appointment with his PO. His PO said he tested positive for the perc and to show proof he had the perc prescribed to him, he had to show he went to NJ so he violated parole right there. He also tested positive for marijuana and they told him to get help before but he never did, even though it's just pot but the law is a little out there. Anyways, so yesterday he was detained and taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility and he can't call me for another 24 hours and visits aren't for 7 to 10 days. Bail has not been set but my question is if they set his bail to a specific amount of money, can you just pay it off and he would be out right away? How long do you think he would be in there? He has never violated probation/parole before. I am literally going insane. We literally just moved in together about five days ago and I could possibly be pregnant right now. I'm getting suicidal because I miss him so much and I am so afraid, vulnerable, worried and just too emotional. Sweetheart, with all the cancer scares, I can understand where you're coming from, but this doesn't look like cancer. My dad had skin cancer and it was worse looking than that. I know everyone is different but you said yourself that it got smaller. That's a good sign. When a mold, or birthmark, or wart changes in ways like they get crusty, change color, size (usually bigger), or become raised, then you have some concern. This is flat, small. I believe Hawaii is chronically short of prison space. They were shipping prisoners to other states in the 1990s. They were supposed to build more prisons but I don't think they ever did. Your half-brother's sentence is short enough that it's probably not cost-effective to ship him to another state, so I'd guess they're moving him around to wherever they have space.

Tired of Being an Correctional Officer Where Else Can I go?

I am tired of Being a Correctional Officer, Its not a bad job but I like physical work moving around and stuff . I am stuck in a place for 12 hours a day and the pay in the NC area aint that good compared to other states.I was thinking about Trying VA DOC.
